The Murray State University Office of Development, MSU Women's Center, Town & Gown and the university libraries have teamed up to offer Leadership Launch Murray State, a public workshop designed to help women develop their leadership skills.
The workshop, which is scheduled for Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., is open to women of all ages and all walks of life who are looking to strengthen their leadership skills wherever they lead, within their families, communities, businesses or all of the above. The event will be held in the Hall of Benefactors in Heritage Hall on MSU's campus at 926 N. 16th St. in Murray.
Presented by Leadership Women of Dallas, Texas, the workshop will help attendees explore their expectations and objectives, generational differences and the power of social media, as well as help them chart their own leadership course and define a work/life balance.
The day features Candace O'Keefe Mathis, Leadership Women CEO; Pamela Owens, programming consultant for Leadership Women; and Debbie Saviano, solopreneur and social media strategist.
"Leadership Women helps develop women where they are in their careers - whether they are just beginning or well into their leadership journeys," said Trisha Cunningham, an MSU, Leadership Texas and Leadership International graduate.
"You talk to real women leaders who have been there, done that and learned what works and what doesn't," Cunningham said. "You learn your strengths and how to use them effectively, and you meet many smart women colleagues who are willing to share advice,"
Workshop admission is $50. For Town & Gown members, admission is $35. Online registration is available at http://leadership-women.org/programs/leadership-launch. For group registration or more information call 214-421-5566.
