Three Owensboro residents were arrested Sunday after state police investigated a marijuana growing operation in McCracken County.
Information from the McCracken County Sheriff's Department states the Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement/Special Investigations West received information about marijuana plants being grown near the end of Downs Road in the Reidland area.
Three marijuana plots were seen by an airplane used by the Governor's Marijuana Strike Force.
On Sunday, Lt. Brent White of Kentucky State Police Post 1 in Mayfield saw three people leaving the plots during ground surveillance and a traffic stop was conducted near the Southern Pride Truck Stop in Reidland. Three people and 34 harvested marijuana plants were found inside.
Those arrested were Jessica S. Jones, 32; Chad D. Drake, 33; and Robert L. Martin, 28. All three are from Owensboro. They were jailed.
White, Detective Richie Wright and Trooper Alison Ramsey seized an additional 53 marijuana plants from the remaining plots for a total of 90 marijuana plants. The plants have an approximate street value of $180,000, according to state police.
All three were charged with complicity to cultivate marijuana over five plants, a felony punishable of one to five years in prison. Additional charges are likely, police said.
