Pennyrile Allied Community Services of Livingston County is holding an indoor yard sale this week at its Smithland office. All proceeds will go to help low-income families in Livingston.
The sale, which started on Monday at the PACS Office at 502 Rudd St., in Smithland, runs through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
All items available for sale were donated by residents and companies from Livingston and other local counties. Items include clothing, housewares, toys and food products.
All proceeds from the sale, in conjunction with a second sale by PACS planned for October, will go to provide Christmas gifts such as pajamas and toys to children in low-income families.
Ginger Dietz, CSBG coordinator at PACS in Smithland, said they have been having these yard sales for six years to help provide Christmas gifts to needy children. The twice yearly sales are the only major fundraisers PACS holds annually. All other funds gathered are from donations.
"The goal between the two yard sales this year is $5,000," Dietz said. "Last year, we helped over 250 kids."
She went on to emphasize that PACS, a statewide non-profit which serves nine counties in Kentucky, can provide assistance to those in need year round.
"We help low-income families with utility bills, weatherization programs, and receiving low-interest loans. There's a lot of things we can do," she added.
