City offers music, fireworks

Staff report

The city of Paducah will host an Independence Day Celebration on the riverfront tonight. 

Live music will begin on the Wilson Stage at 6:30 p.m., with fireworks at 9:15 p.m.  

City Hall will be closed today.

Additional closings by the city include:

n The Paducah Recreation Center, 1527 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, will be closed for maintenance.

n Crews will not collect residential trash.  Friday's routes will be done on Monday. Brush or limbs will not be collected on Monday. 

n The Paducah Compost Facility, 1560 N. Eighth St., will be closed today but will resume normal operating hours on Saturday. The regular operating schedule is 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The facility accepts limbs, brush and other yard waste from residents.

n The Noble Park Pool will be open 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. today, with no family swim night. 

The pool is open 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday through Aug. 3.  Admission is $5 for adults and for children at least 5, $3 for children 4 and younger, and $3 for seniors.

n The Robert Coleman Spraypark, located at Caldwell Street and Walter Jetton Drive, will be open today.  It is open daily from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. through mid-September.
