A hit-and-run suspect was also charged with drug trafficking Wednesday after Marshall County sheriff's detectives and Benton police realized they were investigating the same man.
Benton police asked the sheriff's department to assist in an investigation of a hit-and-run wreck that occurred Tuesday on Fifth Street in Benton.
Narcotics detectives had been investigating the same suspect for drug trafficking over several months.
Zenon Rodriguez of 360 Lone Valley Road was arrested at his residence and charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense, greater than 10 dosage units of opiates; and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a news release from the sheriff's department.
Detectives located more than 60 methadone pills and Xanax pills at the residence and more than $1,600 was concealed inside Rodriguez's bedroom. Detectives also recovered several suspected stolen power tools, the news release said.
Benton police charged Rodriguez with leaving the scene of an accident.
Marshall County sheriff's detectives continue to seek people believed to be linked to the drug trafficking allegations.
Kentucky Probation and Parole officers assisted in the investigation.
