Man shot at Graves gathering

An alleged shooting Friday night left one Graves County man injured.

The Kentucky State Police responded to a 911 call around 6:44 p.m. on Highway 849 West near the Lowes Community. Troopers found Mitchell Meyer, 32, outside the residence with a gunshot wound to his leg. Meyer was taken to Baptist Health Paducah for treatment, KSP spokesman Trooper Jay Thomas said on Saturday.

The KSP interviewed the alleged shooter, but he has not been charged. It is the police's policy not to release the name of suspects until formal charges have been filed, Thomas said.

Thomas said the shooting occurred during a social gathering and that alcohol was involved. Another man, Andrew Redden, was arrested at the same home by the Graves County Sheriff's Department and is charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place and disorderly conduct.

The KSP initiated an investigation and will present its findings to the commonwealth attorney. A grand jury will decide what charges the alleged shooter faces, if any. Trooper Luke Durbin is leading the investigation, which could take weeks, Thomas said.
