Hotel, foundation to host fundraisers

Courtyard by Marriott Paducah West and St. Nicholas Family Clinic Foundation are teaming to hold a free, monthly event beginning May 15, the foundation announced.

Called "Servin' St. Nick," the event will be held the third Thursday of each month in the Bistro, Courtyard's restaurant and bar. It will feature guest servers each month, as well as door prize drawings, seasonal themes, and a variety of food and beverages.

Courtyard will donate 20 percent of all Bistro sales during the event to the foundation, which provides payment assistance for primary care and medicine for the region's working uninsured residents. Individual donations to the foundation will also be accepted.

Guest servers for May 15 will be Courtyard Director of Sales Trish Steckenrider and St. Nicholas Family Clinic Foundation Executive Director Rayla Bridges.

Attendees can order a variety of food and beverages from the Bistro menu, including appetizers, made-to-order sandwiches, soups, salads, pizza, soft drinks, Starbucks coffee, and wine or beer by the glass.

"Even with the new health care law in place, many people are still unable to afford health insurance," Bridges said. "Courtyard's commitment will help us to continue our mission to provide primary care and medicine to hard-working folks right here in our neighborhood."
