The second annual 5K mud obstacle course, the 270 CrossFit Mud Madness Run for the Responders challenge, will be May 17 at Mike Miller Park in Draffenville.
The course features a minimum of 15 large obstacles and mud pits along the way. Participants run individually or as a team, with the timed challenge offering first-place finish medals for each category of 8-man, 4-man, 2-man and individual competition. "Best in Show" will also be awarded to the best costumed competitor.
Funds from Mud Madness are used to support the annual Marshall County Emergency Responder's Appreciation Dinner and newly created Emergency Responder Scholarship Fund.
County Commissioner Misti Drew, event coordinator, said: "We have been so blessed to have had success with this event ,which funds the annual responder's appreciation dinner. Through the Mud Madness event, we are able to offer the responders a small token of our gratitude through an evening of celebration in their honor."
Each Mud Madness participant will receive a free Mud Madness Survivor T-shirt with a paid registration, which is all completed online. Wave times begin at 9 a.m. and run through 1:30 p.m. Team discounts increase from one to eight participants, with teams larger than eight getting a $15 per person discount.
The run is open to participants 10 and older.
