Murray State reaches out to Mid-Continent students

Staff report

Murray State University is working to extend admission and transfer assistance to displaced students of Mid-Continent University following a meeting between Murray State President Tim Miller, Provost Jay Morgan and Mid-Continent administrators.

"Mid-Continent officials seemed appreciative of our offer to assist and both sides were hopeful that suitable accommodations could be worked out for students presently attending Mid-Continent," Morgan said. "MSU has always been student-centered and, if the need arises, would provide as many services and accommodations as possible to transferring students at our main campus and the Paducah campus."

Murray State has been assisting Mid-Continent students since last week with as many as 20 students per day with transfer inquiries, according to assistant vice president of communications Catherine Sivills.

Murray State will host an open house from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday in the community room of the West Kentucky Rural Electric office on Broadway in Mayfield. The event is for anyone interested in attending Murray State including new freshmen, transfer, international and adult students. Attendees of the open house will have their application fees waived for the upcoming summer or fall semesters, she said.

For more information on the application or transfer process, call the transfer center at 1-855-668-8886 or at 270-809-3350.
