Two area highway projects will affect drivers.
Electrical work near the intersection of U.S. 62 and U.S. 641 in Lyon County will require a traffic signal's shutdown today.
A Kentucky Utilities crew plans to shut off power to the traffic signal at the U.S. 62/U.S. 641/Ky. 3305 intersection east of Eddyville about 8 a.m. The signal is expected to be out of service about one hour. During this time U.S. 62 will be open to through traffic with U.S. 641 and Ky. 3305 having stop signs.
In Graves County, a contractor for the Transportation Cabinet plans to close Ky. 97 starting April 21. The closing is to allow construction of a new bridge over Torian Creek at mile point 16.617. This is along Ky. 97 between Market Corner Road and Tucker Road in southern Graves County.
Southbound traffic on Ky. 97 is encouraged to detour via Ky. 80 West to Ky. 303 South and Ky. 339 East. Northbound traffic is encouraged to detour via Ky. 339 West to Ky. 303 North and Ky. 80 East.
Coffey Construction is the prime contractor on the $903,300 bridge replacement. The estimated completion date is Aug. 15.
