Story wins Rotary Speech Contest

Staff report

Zachary Story, Paducah Tilghman junior and son of Dr. Stephen and Karen Story of Paducah, took top honors in the Rotary Club of Paducah's Speech Contest recently at the McCracken County Public Library. Fellow Paducah Tilghman students Meg Hancock, daughter of Justin and Sid Hancock, and Cade Perfili, son of Laura Perfili and Chad Fry, took second and third place, respectively.   Students prepared speeches on a topic selected by Rotary International's President Ron Burton. Students prepared speeches on how they can influence the world around them by "Engage Rotary, Change Lives." Burton said, "We have learned that as a group we can move mountains, we can change people's lives for the better, and we can honestly make a difference in our world."

Story will advance to the next of the three levels of competition, where he will compete against winners from other clubs in western Kentucky. The winner of Rotary District 6710 will receive $2,200 in total prize money.
