Shooter's Supply expands to Eddyville

EDDYVILLE - A second location for a Paducah gun and sporting goods store is the first announced tenant of the revamped Eddyville Mall.

Lynn McCutchen, owner of Paducah Shooter's Supply, 3919 Cairo Road, plans to open his new store around Aug. 1 in the former West Kentucky Factory Outlet Mall. McCutchen said the store will occupy an 8,000-square-foot space and carry the same basic merchandise available at the Paducah location.

Tim Beck, spokesman and project manager for the Mayfield investment firm that is buying the mall, welcomed McCutchen's decision.

"He is a good fit,"  said Beck, describing the Eddyville area as a "well-hidden sportsman's paradise" with its proximity to lakes and other recreational opportunities.

According to Beck, purchase of the mall from Cobra Properties of Miami should be finalized in the next 10-12 weeks. The mall sits on 16 acres. There are seven buildings, each approximately 25,000 square feet.

Discussions with prospective tenants are ongoing, Beck said. While he declined to identify any particular prospects, he said there will be "recognizable names" among future tenants.

Improved parking is one of the changes planned for the new enterprise, according to Beck. One-way traffic through the interior of the mall area will allow better access and let customers park nearer to their shopping destination, he said.

McCutchen said he has been thinking about expanding his business for some time. The Eddyville store will employ around 10 people, he said.

"This will allow us to reach farther east and south," McCutchen said. The move will also accommodate customers who have been driving to the Paducah store from that area.
