Cain, Williams to attend Superman Celebration

Staff report

The Metropolis, Ill., Chamber of Commerce has announced the list of celebrity guests attending the 36th annual Superman Celebration on June 12-15.

Dean Cain, known for his portrayal of the Man of Steel in the television series "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," will appear June 14.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of Superman's on-again, off-again ally Batman's first appearance in Detective Comics #27, and Billy Dee Williams will join Cain at the Superman Celebration. Williams played Harvey Dent in the movie "Batman."

Appearing at the event for the second time will be Valerie Perrine, who played Miss Teschmacher - girlfriend to Superman nemesis Lex Luthor - in "Superman" and "Superman II." Perrine will be available to meet fans on June 13 and June 14, as will actor Aaron Smolinski.

Smolinski began his acting career in the role of baby Clark Kent in "Superman" and appeared in "Man of Steel."

The four-day festival, which welcomes as many as 40,000 visitors, will include musical entertainment, contests, kid activities, vendors, carnival attractions, and comic book artists and writers.
