Wintry weather didn't keep people from attending the 12th annual Mardi Gras & All That Jazz! fundraiser at Harrah's Metropolis Riverfront Event Center.
Nearly 700 Lourdes supporters turned out to celebrate Fat Tuesday, raising $65,000 in total proceeds to benefit the Lourdes Foundation. Funds raised are used to support programs and services, provide facility upgrades, and purchase state-of-the-art technology for Lourdes hospital.
"We are grateful for the dedicated support of our donors," said Tara Miller, Lourdes Foundation president. "Even snowy roads didn't stop hundreds of people from celebrating with us and helping to raise a significant amount of money that will directly benefit Lourdes' health care services and the patients we care for."
"Mardi Gras & All That Jazz! has raised over $800,000 in proceeds for the Lourdes Foundation since it began in 2003, and this critical funding for important needs at Lourdes has saved and healed countless lives," said Jim Garrett, chairman of Lourdes Foundation's board of directors.
An auction of Bill Ford's original Mardi Gras artwork, created for the Lourdes event, raised an extra $4,000, as well as an impromptu live auction item, Ford's bow tie, which brought $500. Guests enjoyed food and beverages from a variety of local restaurants and vendors, while Lew Jetton and 61 South entertained the crowd with classic blues and Southern rock music.
