Yanez pleads guilty to manslaughter in death of Ezra Moffett

Edgar Yanez has pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter in  
McCracken Circuit Court in connection with the June  20, 2012, death  
of Ezra Moffett. Yanez also pleaded guilty Monday to charges of  
wanton endangerment and criminal mischief.

As a condition of the plea, Yanez also said he was the driver of a  
Hummer H2 that crashed into a vehicle driven by Moffett at the  
intersection of Blandville and Mayfield-Metropolis roads. Moffett was  
delivering newspapers for The Paducah Sun.

Formal sentencing will be Feb. 25. Under the plea agreement, Yanez  
will serve at least 20 percent of a 10-year prison term and pay  
funeral expenses to the Moffett family.
