Road rage cited in McCracken shooting

Staff report

A man was shot Tuesday evening after a road rage incident escalated, police said.

McCracken County Sheriff's Jon Hayden said detectives believe a road rage incident led to the shooting in front of a Reidland apartment complex about 7:10 p.m. Hayden said the investigation was evolving Tuesday night, but the department was seeking a suspect.

The victim's name was not released because of safety reasons, but Hayden said his injuries were non-life threatening. He was being treated at Baptist Health.

The shooting happened on Reid Circle near Reidland. The man was shot once in the leg with a semi-automatic pistol, Hayden said, and the shooter ran before deputies could get to the scene.

Hayden said the department gets about 10 road rage calls per month, but none had ended in such violence.
