Marshall County house fire injures three; home deemed total loss

Staff report

A house fire in Marshall County injured three residents Sunday night, according to West Marshall fire chief Brian Andrus.

He said the department received the call about 5:50 p.m. to 1357 Tom Lane Road near the intersection of Vanzora Road in Benton. Along with the West Marshall Fire Department, the Palma-Briensburg, South Hardin and Clear Springs fire departments were expected top be on scene fighting the blaze until after 10 p.m.

The home was fully involved when the first crews arrived shortly after the call was received and the home was a total loss. The cause and origin of the fire was not known as of Sunday night, according to Andrus.

Two adult residents and a child were inside when the fire began. They were able to escape the residence and call 911. All three individuals were taken by private vehicle to the Marshall County hospital. The child and one adult suffered from minor smoke inhalation and another adult suffered from significant but not-critical burns as a result of the fire, he said.
