Ballard schools offering free hot meal

Staff report

While Ballard County schools are closed today, students who rely on the hot meals the school system provides won't have to miss out.

The school system announced Thursday that its staff has planned a free hot meal for students, their families and members of the local community from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Ballard Memorial High School cafeteria.

Several churches in the area will provide transportation to the cafeteria for the meal, according to Ballard schools Community Education Director Julie Thomas.

Churches offering rides to the meal include:

n La Center Baptist Church, sending a bus from First Community Bank in Kevil. To schedule a ride, call Ballard Family Focus at 270-665-8412, ext. 226.

n Barlow First Baptist Church, sending a bus at 4 p.m. from its Family Life Center to the school.

n La Center First Christian Church, call 270-665-5586 to schedule a ride.

n Oscar Baptist Church, call 270-556-6288 to schedule a ride.

n Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church, bus departs from its parking lot at 4:30 p.m.
