3 juveniles face theft charges

Staff report

Three Graves County juveniles face multiple theft charges in Graves and Marshall counties, according to the Graves County Sheriff's Department.

Police said in December, a utility trailer was reported stolen from the parking lot of Lowe's Home Improvement Center in Mayfield after the store closed. A Kentucky State Police dispatcher notified local police of an Internet posting matching the description with a location near downtown Paducah. Officers later located the trailer near the Dublin community in Graves County.

Officers learned an additional trailer was stolen Friday night from a business and another item was taken from Walmart, both in Benton. Police said after the juveniles took the trailer, they drove to Polaris of Benton and took two 2014 Polaris four-wheelers valued at about $20,000, according to a news release from the sheriff's department.

Police said the juveniles hid the trailer and vehicles in a wooded area behind an abandoned house in the Hopewell Road area of Graves County. One juvenile was found at a friend's residence riding one of the four-wheelers and then hiding the vehicle in the woods.

The trailer and four-wheelers were taken to a Graves County Sheriff's Department impound lot and the juveniles were released to their parents pending court proceedings in Marshall and Graves counties.
