Man fatally shot in home invasion

McCracken County deputies have identified two men who were shot, one of them fatally, during what authorities called a home invasion late Saturday night on Stiles Road, near the intersection of Babbland Drive in Reidland.

Toby William Reed, 39, of Cunningham, was pronounced dead at the scene. Robert Christopher Ingram, 34, of Paducah, is in serious condition at a Tennessee hospital.

Deputies said they received a 911 call at 11:11 p.m. Saturday reporting that two people had been shot.

Upon arrival, deputies found Ingram lying in the driveway with gunshot wounds. Reed was found dead inside the home.

Deputies said neither of the suspects lived at the home, and they kicked in a door to get inside. The homeowner fired shots when the door was breached, striking the two men, deputies said.

Capt. Matt Carter said an investigation is ongoing, and authorities are not ready to release the homeowner's name.

Ingram was taken to a local hospital and then airlifted to Nashville with life-threatening wounds.

Carter said the scene was secured early Sunday morning.

He said there is no danger to nearby residents.
