Co-worker charged in store employee death

LOUISVILLE - Police say an arrest has been made in the fatal shooting of a Kroger employee in November.

Aaron L. Cross, 18, has been charged with murder and robbery in the death of Jack Combs, 34. He pleaded not guilty in court on Saturday.

Police say Cross and Combs were employees of the St. Matthews Kroger when Combs was shot in the chest while walking to his car behind the store Nov. 23.

Police said robbery was a likely motive for the shooting but declined to say Cross had fired the shots. Police are still investigating.

Cross was already in jail on an unrelated robbery charge.

Rewards in the case totaling $30,000 from various sources are still active concerning information leading to an arrest and conviction.
