Brenda and Seral 'Smokey' Burgess

FANCY FARM - Mr. and Mrs. Seral "Smokey" Burgess of the Beulah community celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 23.

Mr. Burgess and the former Brenda E. Thomas were married May 23, 1964, at Chase Street Baptist Church in Gary, Ind., by the Rev. Harry Steele. Their attendants were Mary Ragan and Flavious Burgess.

Mrs. Burgess is a secretary at Northside Christian School. She is the daughter of the late Deen and Roscoe Thomas.

Mr. Burgess is retired from the U.S. Postal Service and formerly employed in security at Ingersoll-Rand and the Hickman County Court. He is the son of the late Lorene and Cecil Burgess.

They are the parents of Brian Burgess of Grand Park, Ill., and Mark Burgess of Hebron, Ind. They have three grandchildren.
