Paducah's Michaels Arts and Crafts store suffered extensive smoke and water damage from a small fire Friday morning. Interim Fire Chief Steve Kyle said the fire apparently began in the rear of the building shortly before 7 a.m., and the building was full of smoke when firefighters arrived.

Smoke escapes from Paducah's Michaels Arts and Crafts store Friday morning as Paducah firefighters work secure the building. Steve Kyle, interim fire chief, said the store's alarm company called in a fire alarm shortly before 7 a.m., and the building had filled with smoke when firefighters arrived. Kyle said it appears the fire began in the rear of the store, and the sprinklers extinguished it. The store suffered extensive smoke and water damage, Kyle said.
