Jacquelyn “Jackie” Harton Howard, 77, of Paducah died November 4, 2009.
Jackie is survived by her six children, Kelly Howard and wife Karen of Friendswood, Texas, Craig Howard and wife Brenda of Paducah, Jim Howard and wife Nancy of Columbine Valley, Colo., Jenny Kelley and husband Dewayne of Knoxville, Tenn., Ken Howard and Elizabeth Robertson of Asheville, N.C., and Julie Price and husband Kent of Paducah; one sister, Jerrie Poat of Paducah; and her stepmother, Myrtle W. Harton of Union City, Tenn. Jackie has fourteen grandchildren, Sam Howard, Emily Jones, Anna Renfro, Cara Howard, Sara Howard, John Howard, Cassie Unruh, Molly Howard, Drew Howard, Shawn Kelley, Chris Kelley, Elinor Howard, Joseph Price and Jenna Price; and 10 great-grandchildren, Darian Jones, Bella Jones, Ruby Jones, Alaine Renfro, Cullen Renfro, Sadie Hackett, Shelby Hackett, Jackson Glasscock, Emily Unruh and Bentley Unruh.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Carl M. Howard; her mother, Louise Heavrin; her father, Ethert Ross Harton; and her sister, Jennea Anderson.
She had a strong passion for music, singing in Sweet Adelines and several other performing groups during her lifetime. She was also an accomplished pianist.
Jackie worked tirelessly for the Paducah Community Concert Association, volunteered for Lourdes Hospice and was an active member of Central Church of Christ. Her past work included being a piano teacher, credit union manager and Tupperware manager. She was a strong advocate and was instrumental in making positive change in public schools and the community.
A memorial service will be held at Roth Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at 2 p.m., with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Mike Tanaro and Roger Thompson will officiate, with congregational singing led by Todd Walker.
