The Paducah Symphony Orchestra requests artwork for display during its upcoming 2009-2010 Exhibitions Season.
The Exhibitions concept stems from the symphony’s desire to work with and showcase local fine arts friends as well as make the contextual connection between music and other relevant arts, such as theater, drama and dance.
Artists will present work in a unique way to a targeted audience, and the symphony will connect the concert’s themes with more visual arts.
Before each show next season the PSO will host a “Conc-ART Gallery” in the Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center lobby. A call for art will precede each concert. The next deadline for artwork is Friday, Dec. 4. Future deadlines will be Feb. 12, March 12 and April 10.
Submissions must represent themes from the concerts in some way as well as meet other guidelines.
Keep in mind the PSO audience is a family audience, and the PSO reserves the right to select items for display.
Submissions are open to any resident, artist or not, living in the surrounding region.
Artwork may be two dimensional or three dimensional, and in any medium. Artwork must be suitably framed or ready for display. Quilts should be wall hanging size. Work should be protected for transport. Digital images must be pdf files or jpeg with 300 dpi resolution on CD or through e-mail.
The PSO will accept artwork that is for sale. It requests a donation of 25 percent of the proceeds of each piece of artwork sold.
After the event, artists may arrange to pick up work at the end of the evening or by appointment the week following the show.
When identifying artwork include the following:
