Jonna Beth Mathis and Shannon Lee Hayes will be united in marriage at 7 p.m. Friday in a beachside ceremony in Destin, Fla. All friends and relatives are invited to a reception for the couple from 7 to 11 p.m. May 17 in the Myre River Room of the Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center. Only out-of-town invitations are being sent.

Miss Mathis is the daughter of Johnny and Vivian Mathis of Symsonia. She is the granddaughter of the late Daniel and Katherine Faulkner, and the late Jim and Geneva Mathis. She is a 2001 graduate of Graves County High School in Mayfield and a 2005 graduate of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green with a bachelor’s degree in business marketing. She is a massage therapy graduate of the Natural Healing Institute and is employed by The Cup and Stone in Benton.

Mr. Hayes is the son of Connie Key of McKenzie, Tenn., and the late Terry Hayes. He is the grandson of Bertha Barlow of McKenzie and the late Billy Barlow, and the late Carlie and Emma Hayes. He is a 2000 graduate of McKenzie High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 2005 from Western Kentucky University, where he had served as football team captain. He is employed by GeoTech Engineering.
