LEXINGTON, Ky. — Filmmaker Kyle Lake didn’t dream of days full of lights, camera and action when he graduated from Heath High School in 1996.

“I was majoring in pre-med,” said Lake, 28. “But I decided I didn’t like blood that much, and I wanted to do something creative.”

Lake, executive producer of Prosper Media Group, a Lexington-based multimedia company, will premiere his short film “Forever Yesterday” and a documentary about producing a film in Kentucky at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Blue Line, 350 Foreman Ave. in Lexington. Lake wrote and directed the film, which he describes as a dark love story.

Lake is the son of Dr. Carla and John Farr of Paducah and Merritt and Debbie Lake of suburban Washington, D.C. Lake graduated from the College of New Jersey, just outside Trenton, with a bachelor’s degree in communication/television and theater production, and received his master’s of business administration from the University of Kentucky.

Lake has also invited regional filmmakers to show short film clips during the premiere. Music will be performed by Bryan Himes, Joe Hedges and Ryan Templeton, three performers whose music can be heard in “Forever Yesterday.”

“Instead of doing a typical premiere, we decided to invite lots of independent filmmakers and have a networking evening,” he said. “It’s a good networking opportunity for writers, actors and directors. It’s good for everybody. We’ve received clips from Illinois and Cincinnati. It’s a good representation of the area. I didn’t realize there were that many independent filmmakers out there, but they’re coming out of the woodwork.”

Guests are invited to dress up as their favorite movie characters, and food and cocktails will be available as well. Admission is $5. Information: fyfilm01@prospermg.com or 859-400-0136.
