WKCTC celebrates Read Across America

By Staff report

National Read Across America Day is March 2, and West Kentucky Community & Technical College faculty and students will host

two events.

WKCTC's Future Educators' Club presents "Reading with Royalty" at Kentucky Oaks Mall on Saturday, March 1, from 10 a.m.-1

p.m. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the lounge area in front of Dillard's.

"We have worked so hard to plan a great way to show that we care about our youth's literacy," FEC Student President Michae

Word said.

Each year Read Across America events and activities include celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday.  Word and other student organizers

have invited several of his characters, including the Cat in the Hat, to be a part of the literacy event. A photographer will

take photos of kids with Seuss characters.

The Cat in the Hat also will appear at WKCTC's on March 3 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the college's Matheson Library.  The public

is invited.
