A Reidland man who police accuse of killing his wife - whose body was found in their burned home - was arrested Friday night.
Keith W. Griffith, 55, was arrested just before 7 p.m. by the McCracken County Sheriff's Department. He was charged with murder,
second-degree arson, tampering with physical evidence and two counts of cruelty to animals in connection with a Jan. 17 fire.
The body of Julie Griffith, 55, was found after the fire.
Investigators refuse to release Griffith's cause of death. Her body was recovered at 307 Tudor Blvd. after the massive fire,
which killed the couple's two dogs.
Sheriff Jon Hayden said the department has dedicated more than 1,000 man hours to the case, uncovering a mountain of evidence
that led to the arrest. Detectives were on the scene sifting through debris for several days.
"The department has been well aware of the concern that the Reidland area residents have had since this murder, as well as
a couple of residential burglaries that occurred earlier last week," Hayden said. "We hope that this arrest will put fears
at ease in the Reidland area. Patrols by sheriff's deputies have been increased in the area since last week."
Griffith was arrested and questioned, then taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail on Friday night and jailed on a $1
million cash bond.
Memorial services for Julie Griffith were held Wednesday.
